THE PERFECT STAYCATION FOR 2020

Heritage Suite

Room Description

The Heritage Suite was named after our local tourism and community centre Heritage House.

The Heritage House was once home to the Abbeyleix Carpet Factory, where a number of hand tufted carpets were made for the state room for the Titanic.

It was a Boys National School until 1995, it now serves as heritage centre with a museum, meeting rooms and playground. It’s open to the public for guided tours, cultural events and exhibitions.

Exhibits include ancient artefacts and recent traditional craft from Laois as well as artefacts from the Titanic Carpet factory here in Abbeyleix.
